A sad day at the Louvre

I’ll never forget our trip as a family to Paris and the day we visited the Louvre back in July of 2017. The experience was overwhelming! So much art and wondrous architecture. This week though, I remembered specifically a walk through the Apollon Gallery and the pictures I took:

How lucky we were to have seen these amazing works of art. Now some of these pieces of jewelry are possibly gone forever. Why is this sad? Well, it’s a piece of history and part of the story of France, and a little piece of the amazing work stored at this museum. Someone decided for all of us that their hunger for profit outweighed any of our needs.

Beauty can be fleeting. Bad players are out there and took advantage of all of us. It reminds me of how important it is to respect other’s treasures, and what an honor it is to be able to travel and learn the story of other cultures and people.
