The first backpacking trip of the year was a great success! I was able to invite folks from work for a first overnight hiking trip for 3 of 4 of them, and get all my gear out and put it to use! We had a great time, and this particular part of Olympic National Park is perfect for an introductory backpacking trip, great for teenagers, and super lush and beautiful. The Dosewallips River was raging and so fun to watch tumble down the awesome rapids and waterfalls as you hike up the river. Some rain fell but not problematic at all.

I wrote about the same spot one year ago when I took another person for their first backpacking trip. What a joy to see someone else find contentment and beauty in nature! First Backpacking Trip of the Year!
