The weather is beautiful and cold in the Northwest. We’ve had an unusual 10 days or so of clear skies and sunshine. The temperatures have been cold, but we decided to brave the chill and do a short hike to see some nature and a cute waterfall.

We visited Ludlow Falls in Port Ludlow, Washington. It’s a short loop through a pristine forest, old-growth, with a stream flowing over basalt rock making a fun waterfall. I wouldn’t drive too far for the hike, but if you wanted to take a road trip, hangout in Port Ludlow and stay the night in Port Townsend, that would certainly make this stop worthwhile. For us, it was just a 28 minute drive and a fun little excursion. I think the highlight of this walk is the sun shinning through the old trees, which I tried to capture in some photos, and the sound of the water flowing by: so peaceful.

Port Ludlow falls is a nice January hike on a sunny day. I can’t wait until the hiking season opens up!
What hikes are you finding in your neighborhood this January? Add to comments and I would love to take a look.
